Özet

Üstün zekâlı olduğu varsayılan beş yaşında bir çocuğun okuma becerisini betimlemeyi amaçlayan bu çalışmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden bütüncül tek durum deseni kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın analiz birimi olan MKÇ ile yapılan okuma çalışmaları video kaydı, gözlem notları, babası ve öğretmeniyle yapılan görüşme kayıtları araştırmanın veri setini oluşturmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde doküman analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulgularından yola çıkarak; okul öncesi dönemde kendi kendine okumayı öğrenen üstün zekâlı olduğu varsayılan beş yaşında bir çocuğun “kelime tanımaya” dayalı bir okuma stratejisi geliştirdiği ve kelime hazinesinin okuduğunu anlamasında önemli bir etken olduğu söylenebilir.

Abstract

In this case study which aims to describe the reading skills of a five-year-old child who is thougth to be gifted, the in-depth single case method was used, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The reading exercises done with MKÇ - the analysis point of the research-, video records, observation notes and the records of observations of the child with the father and a teacher, constitute the given data. The document analysis method was used in analyzing the data. According to the research results, it might be concluded that when a five-year-old child who is thought to be gifted learns how to read on his own in preschool period, he develops a reading strategy based on word recognition and his vocabulary is a significant factor in his reading comprehension.
