Abstract
Nanotechnology is a method of producing microscopic size products by processing any material at atomic or molecular size. Developed countries benefit from this technology, and it is important that developing countries (or those aspiring to develop) are well aware of this technology. The main objective of this research is to determine the views of the Turkish language education students on the concept of nanotechnology through metaphors. In this research "Phenomenology" was used as a qualitative research method. The study group of the research is consisted of 194 undergraduate students of Turkish language education in Çanakkale in 2016-2017 academic year. The research data were gathered by using a questionnaire form developed by the researcher and titled as "A Study on the Concept of Nanotechnology of Undergraduate Students of Turkish Education: A Metaphorical Study". In order to determine the point of view of the undergraduate students of Turkish education on the concept of nanotechnology, a questionnaire form was used. The "content analysis" technique was used to analyze the collected data. It was found that students’ conceptualizations of nanotechnology varied extensively. The metaphors developed by the Turkish language education students regarding the concept of nanotechnology were evaluated and classified to four main themes as "need", "infinity", "complexity" and "control".
