Abstract
Building a healthy and peaceful social structure firstly depends on sincere and common behaviors of humans in any society. The most important common behavior style from point of social psychology is not a blind imitation; but is a compliance behavior by approving. A man who acts by believing sincerely that it is a correct behavior continues to act this behavior where social control mechanism does not take place. According to the famous Gabriel hadith, one must believe in Allah as if he/she sees Him. This fact in this hadith expresses that one must believe something by accepting and knowing its truth and act accordingly. In this study, we examined the reasons for obedience in light of the Qur’anic verses passed as “obedience” and “be subject to” 208 times in the Qur’an. Later, we focused on how these reasons from point of social psychology fit to compliance behavior (are they blind imitation, identification or by accepting style?) It is seen that the Qur’an calls its followers to obey or to be subject to someone through satisfying reasons in terms of rational, ethical, lawful-political, psychological and social aspects. For this reason, it is understood that the Qur’an is open/appropriate for any kinds of critical thought that aim to find out right and authentic things and even it commands human beings indirectly this kind of critical thinking. For critical thinking suggests Muslims to be subject to rational and scientific aspects of things. For this reason that adapting with socio-cultural conditions verbatim, it sometimes focuses on requests in relation to the faith and sometimes on demands related to the actions. For example, while the Qur’an gives important 72.7 percent in believing and obeying to right and legitimate things, it gives important just 27.3 percent objective results of being subject to something. This situation indicates that the most important thing is a sincere faith. The ratios concerning negative-obey and be subject to verses are reverse. This means that the Qur’an criticizes much more those who do not believe have some wrong behavior and attitudes outside of moral and mercy such as insincere, ignorant, liar, sassy and slanderer. In such a situation while the Qur’an gives place and focus on the rate of 26,6 percent sincere faith of believers of reasons related to the demands of negative obey and be subject to, it criticizes those who do not believe and do wrong behavior on a rate of 73,4. These rates show that the Qur’an gives us the most appropriate shape and direction about address that is very important. It also gives important on critical thinking that aims to have right and legitimate thing. It is understood that the Qur’an pays attention to moral, rational and objective reasons of the current cultural environment related to the demands of obedience or to be subject to. Shortly, having demands that are appropriate for rational and objective reasons means that critical thinking should be paid attention to the maximum.
