Abstract

The aim of this study is examining the behaviors of science teachers about safe laboratory use by employing the Planned Behaviour Theory. The correlational survey method was used in the study. In the study, “Safe Laboratory Use Scale” was developed by the researchers in accordance with the Planned Behavior Theory and by taking into account the scale development steps. 2405 science teachers from all regions of Turkey constitute the sample of the study. SPSS 21 and AMOS 23 programs were used to analyze the data. The data obtained from the scales were evaluated by structural equation modeling. The Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficient for the whole scale was found to be .961. The results of the study revealed that while the “Perceptual Behavior Control” factor was effective, the “Attitude towards Behavior” and “Subjective Norm” factors were less effective in explaining the “Behavioral Aim” of science teachers.
