Abstract

Since the focal point in education is “learning how to learn,” teacher training is becoming increasingly important in the twenty first century. Teaching practice is one of the most important steps of that training. The aim of this research is to determine the opinions and evaluations of prospective teachers who are enrolled in a teacher licensing program about a Teaching Practice II course delivered through faculty-school cooperation. The research was carried out in the Spring semester of 2016-2017 academic year with 20 prospective teachers who were being trained in a teacher licensing program at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Education. At the end of the semester, open-ended questions were directed to these prospective teachers and the data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. The data were then analyzed by inductive content analysis, which is a qualitative research method. Based on the analysis of the obtained data, the opinions of the prospective teachers were grouped into four categories as positive observation and experiences, difficulties, contributions, and anticipations. Evaluated as a whole, the results revealed that the prospective teachers have both positive and negative observations and experiences regarding the course instructor, mentor teacher, their own practices, the students in the practice school, the administrators, the teachers other than their mentor teachers, and the licensing process.
