Abstract

This study was carried out in Mersin (Mezitli district) environs, a significant fruit growing center of Turkey in 2012–2013. In this study, some biological criteria to be useful in the control of codling moth [Cydia pomonella L. (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)] like first emergence of adults, adult flights, active duration time of adults and generation number per year was aimed to determine. In conclusion, it was determined that the first emergence of C. pomonella adults was between 31 March and 14 April and the pest has three to four peaks in a year (May, June-July, August or May, June, July, August). The flight curves of C. pomonella adults showed that the first peak of adult flights was seen during bloom time while the second, the third and the last one was seen when the fruits were hazelnut-size, walnut-size and in the beginning of fruit ripening time respectively. Besides, C. pomonella adults were determined to be active for 5-5.5 months in the orchards starting from end of March- early to mid-September and have 3 generations/year.
