Abstract
The famous Greek poet Constantine P. Cavafy used Alexandria city, wherehe was born, in his poems. Therefore the city has very important role both inhis life and poems. Especially in his poems that were subject of HellenisticAlexandria, he successfully showed all elements of those periods. Alexandriawas a main subject of his poems. Especially city’s cosmopolitan side causedhis poems being unique and interesting. Therefore it is very important for usto understand the effect of the city in his poems. The value Greek culture andlanguage was effected by Eastern Culture in Cavafy’s Alexandria. Even toughAlexandria was the centre point of his poems, The Greek culture and its valueaffected its poems.
