Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı Türkiye’de üniversitelerin eğitim fakülteleri Türkçe eğitimi bölümlerinde öğrenim gören son sınıf öğrencilerinin demografik özelliklerini ortaya koymaktır. Tarama modelinin kullanıldığı araştırma betimsel niteliktedir. Çalışmanın örneklemi 2007-2008 akademik yılında dokuz devlet üniversitesinin eğitim fakülteleri Türkçe eğitimi bölümlerindeki toplam 600 son sınıf öğrencisinden oluşmaktadır. Veriler araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen araştırma anketiyle toplanmıştır. Öğretmen adaylarının doğum yerleri ve ailelerinin yaşadıkları kentler incelendiğinde Türkiye’nin farklı coğrafi bölgeleri arasında dengeli bir dağılım tespit edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin önemli bir bölümünün bölüme ilk üç tercihi arasından yerleştirilmiş olmaları ve alana ilgi sebebiyle bölümü tercih ettiklerini ifade etmeleri meslek olarak öğretmenliğin bilinçli bir tercihle seçildiğini göstermektedir. Ancak öğrencilerin ailelerindeki öğretmen sayısının azlığı öğretmenliğin bir aile mesleği geleneği oluşturmadığını ortaya koymuştur.
Abstract
The aim of this study is to state the demographic characteristics of students attending the senior classes of Turkish teaching departments of faculties of education in universities in Turkey. This research in which screening model is used is of a descriptive character. The sampling of the study consists of in total 600 senior class students keeping term in Turkish teaching departments of faculties of education of nine state universities in the academic year of 2007-2008. The data was collected through research survey developed by the researcher. When their birth places and the cities their families are living in were examined, a balanced distribution has been identified between different geographical regions of Turkey. The fact that students are accepted to the department among their first three choices and their statements that they have preferred the department because of their interest to the field show that profession of teaching is preferred with a conscious choice. However, minority in number of teachers in families of students displays that profession of teaching does not generate a family business tradition.
