İlk kıblenin Kudüs’te bulunan Mescid-i Aksâ olması, Hz. Muhammed’in İsrâ ve Mi’raç seyahatlerinde buraya uğraması, sahih hadislerle birlikte, Mescid-i Aksâ’nın bizzat Kur’an’da zikredilip “çevresi bereketli kılınan bir yer” olarak vasıflandırılması, burayı Müslümanlar için çok daha önemli bir hale getirmiştir. Hz. Fakat son dönemlerde, Mescid-i Aksâ’nın konumu ve mahiyeti hakkında şüphe verici birtakım iddialar ortaya atılmıştır. Kimi araştırmacılar, Mescid-i Aksâ’nın gökyüzünde bulunduğunu iddia ederlerken, kimileri de Hz.

Abstract

Bayt al-Maqdis with its thousands of years of history is a blessed city that is considered holy for Judaism, Christianity and Islam. At its heart lies al-Aqsa Mosque, the first Qiblah of Muslims, the destination of Prophet Muhammad's miraculous Night Journey, and the fact that the Masjid al-Aqsa was explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an as a place where its surroundings were surrounded with Barakah, together with the numerous authentic Ahadith made this place much more significant for Muslims. Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the second place of worship built on earth as the Prophet puts it, and its Holy Land, which has an important place in the minds and hearts of every Muslim throughout history, has not lost anything of its sacredness. In addition, both al-Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem are inseparable, that is, the consensus that al-Aqsa Mosque is a blessed place in the city of Jerusalem has been conveyed to our modern time without any significant opposition. However, in recent years, some suspicious claims have been made about the location and nature of the al-Aqsa Mosque. Some researchers claim that the Masjid al-Aqsa is located in the heavens, while others claim that there was no mosque or ma‘bad known by this name at the time of the Prophet, and that the mosque in question was built much later, thus it is not possible for it to be the place described as al-Masjid al-Aqsa. According to the aforementioned writers who essentially adopt this trend initiated by Orientalists, argue that the mosque mentioned in the Quran is nothing but a small mosque located in Ji‘ranah on the borders of the Haram of Makkah. This raises the question of what is the definition of the Quranic Masjid, and the historicity of al-Aqsa Mosque and whether it has preserved its existence, as archaeological and historical data shows that the external walls were partly destroyed before the Muslim conquest. This paper will analyse the answers to such questions in the works of the Quranic commentators who lived during the times of Artuk Bey (d. 1091) and Salah al-Din (d. 1193) that is the XI and XII centuries, especially in the context of the Quranic exegesis of verse 1 of Surah al-Isra.
