Abstract
In the following article, we analyze the traditions of Mongolian Tuvans (Tsengel sum ofBayan-Ölgii province, Tsagaannuur sum of Khövsgöl province, Hovd province) related to theworship of belt (girdle). We describe various rites, omens, and concepts related to girdleswhich are still observed in Tuvan daily life. We also list similar rites and omens in thecultures of Mongolians, Russian Tuvans, and Buryats. Our article is based on long-term fieldobservations.
