Brucellosis Seroprevalance in İnönü University Medical Faculty Hospital: The Results of Rose Bengal, Wright, Coombs Aglutination Tests

Bu çalışmada bölgemizdeki bruselloz seroprevalansının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. 2012 yılında İnönü Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi’ne başvuran bruselloz şüpheli hastalardan alınan 2942 serum örneğinde bruselloz serolojik göstergeleri (Wright ve Coombs aglütinasyon testi ile Rose-Bengal testi) retrospektif olarak irdelenmiştir. Serum örneklerinden 251’i (%8.5) Rose Bengal aglütinasyon testi pozitif bulunmuş, Rose Bengal pozitif olan 118 (%4) serumda Wright testinin 1/160 titrenin altında olduğu tesbit edilmiştir. Wright tüp aglütinasyon testinde 133(%4.5) serum örneğinde 1/160 ve üzeri titrelerde aglütinasyon belirlenmiştir. Coombs aglütinasyon testinde ise 161(%5.5) serum örneği 1/160 ve üzeri titrede saptanmıştır. Brusellozu kontrol altına almayı başaran ülkelerde olduğu gibi ülkemizde de insanlara bulaşın önlenmesi öncelikle hastalığın hayvanlarda kontrolü ve eradikasyonuna bağlıdır.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the seroprevalence of brucellosis in our region. Serological markers (Wright, Coombs agglutination test and Rose-Bengal test) of brucellosis, were evaluated retrospectively according to laboratory data for 2942 sera from brucellosis suspected patients admitted to Inonu University Medical Faculty Hospital in the year 2012. Rose Bengal agglutination test was positive in 251(8.5%) sera. Rose-Bengal positive 118 (4%) sera was determined under the 1/160 titer in Wright test. 133 (4.5%) sera were determined 1/160 or higher agglutination titer in Wright tube agglutination test. In addition 161 (5.5%) sera were determined 1/160 and higher titres in Coombs agglutination test. In our country prevent the transmission of brucellosis to humans, primarily depends on control and eradication of disease from animals, as the countries managed to take control of brucellosis.
