Abstract

This study presents part of the results from field investigations in South Dobrudzha (NE Bulgaria) in June-July 1996 after a transect method, namely along Black Sea coast between the towns of Shabla and Balchik. In the course of the study there were recorded 394 terres-trial higher plant species belonging to 65 families. The floristic analysis done on the base of these 394 species shows that the submediterranean geoelements dominate above euroasian, euromediterranean, mediterranean, pontian-mediterranean, eurosiberian, cosmopolitic etc. The origin of these steppe plant communities in the area is discussed on the base of palynological investigations in the area.
