A Study on the Effects of Experiment and Game in Remembering, Analyzing, and Synthesizing Balance and Dissolution Concepts at 4th and 5th Grades

İlköğretim 4. ve 5. Sınıf Öğrencilerinin Terazi Dengesi ve Çözünmeyi Hatırlayarak Analiz ve Sentez Yapmada Deney ve Oyunun Etkisi

Abstract

This study examined the effects of experiment and game on remembering, analyzing, and synthesizing previously taught concepts, balance and dissolutions, at 4th and 5th grade. Students from different schools we9re included in the study. The students were divided into two groups as control and experimental. In the experimental groups questionnaires were administered. Following the questionnaire, a game was played with students. Towards the end of game, the game was stopped and students were presented a question containing three different cases. Through this question, the students’ ability of remembering the previous knowledge and its use were measured. The data were analyzed by using statistical techniques. Based on the findings some suggestions for teaching and curriculum development were provided.

Özet

Bu çalışmada farklı okullardaki ilköğretim 4. ve 5. sınıf öğrencileri arasında daha önce işlendiği öğretmen tarafından ifade edilen eşit kollu terazi dengesi ve katıların sıvılar içinde çözünmesi ile ilgili kavramların farklı yöntemlere göre ne derece hatırlanarak analiz ve sentez edilebildiği araştırılmıştır. Biri kontrol diğeri deney grubu olmak üzere iki farklı öğrenci grubuna uygulanan çalışmada deney grubuna eşit kollu terazi dengesi ve katıların sıvılar içinde çözünmesi ile ilgili bir deney oyun yoluyla uygulanmış deney sonuçlanma noktasında kesilerek deneyle ilgili olası 3 durum resimli olarak bir sayfalık anket ile öğrencilere sorulmuştur. Aynı anket kontrol grubuna deneysiz olarak uygulanmıştır. Böylelikle, farklı okul, sınıf ve çalışma grubundaki öğrencilerin okullarında aldıkları bilgi ve bu bilgiyi kullanma yetenekleri ölçülmüştür. SPSS 11.0 paket programı yardımıyla elde edilen analiz sonuçları değerlendirilerek, müfredatta bulunan ilgili kavramların daha iyi öğretilebilmesine ışık tutacağı kanısıyla bazı önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
