The Relationship between Teacher Candidates' Learning Styles and Critical Thinking Dispositions

Öğretmen Adaylarının Öğrenme Stilleri İle Eleştirel Düşünme Eğilimleri Arasındaki İlişki

Abstract

Information society intends on training individuals in a way that they know how, why, what they learn instead of those accepting available information without questioning. These aims requirement of information society highlight the concepts of learning style and critical thinking that explain individuals’ learning styles and involve thinking skills based on questioning. This study was carried out on 251 students studying at Anadolu University, Education Faculty between 2003-2004 spring term so as to determine the relationship between the learning styles and critical thinking dispositions that the teacher candidates have. According to the results of the study, a certain degree of relationship was found to be between the learning styles and critical thinking dispositions that teacher candidates had.

Bilgi toplumu,hazır bilgileri sorgusuz kabullenen bireyler yeti tirmek yerine, neyi, niçin ve nasıl ö renmesi gerekti ini bilen, ö rendi i bilgileri kullanan, geli tiren ve yeni bilgi üreten bireylerin yeti tirilmesini amaçlamaktadır. Bilgi toplumunun öngördü ü bu amaçlar, ö renme stili ve ele tirel dü ünme gibi bireylerin ö renme biçimini açıklayan ve sorgulamaya dayalı dü ünme becerilerini içeren iki önemli kavramı ön plana çıkarmaktadır. Bu çalı ma, ö retmen adaylarının sahip oldukları ö renme stilleri ile ele tirel dü ünme e ilimleri arasında ili kiyi belirlemek amacıyla, 2003–2004 ö retim yılı bahar döneminde, Anadolu Üniversitesi E itim Fakültesinde ö renim gören 251 ö renci üzerinde gerçekle tirilmi tir. Tarama modelinde gerçekle tirilen ara tırmanın sonucunda, ö retmen adaylarının sahip oldukları ö renme stilleri ile ele tirel dü ünme e ilimleri arasında belli bir düzeyde ili ki oldu u belirlenmi tir
