Properties of Educational Games for Mathematics: IOS Applications for Arithmetic Operations

Matematik Öğretimine Yönelik Eğitsel Oyunların Özellikleri: IOS Uygulamalarındaki Dört İşlem Oyunları

Abstract

IOS Applications for game based Mathematic Education is also widely preferred from mathematic teachers. In this study IOS Applications for "Arithmetic Operations" were selected from App Store and they were analyzed in order to evaluate its usefulness for teachers and students. The twenty five free applications were selected and analyzed depending on some criteria. Accordingly, it has been observed that games have difficulty in bringing the words of entertainment and education side by side. It has been found that none of the games examined has a class level; the majority does not have a level of difficulty and not have any feedback.

Özet

Matematik öğretiminde oyunla öğrenmeye yönelik IOS uygulamaları da matematik öğretmenleri tarafından yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmada App Store’daki “Dört İşlem” konularını içeren IOS oyunlarının özellikleri, öğretmen ve öğrencilerin bu oyunları eğitsel amaçla kullanıp kullanamayacakları incelenmiştir. Çalışmada App Store’dan indirilen ücretsiz 25 ipad oyunu çeşitli kriterlere göre değerlendirilmiştir. Buna göre oyunların eğlence ve eğitim kelimelerini yan yana getirmede güçlük çekildiği gözlenmiştir. İncelenen oyunların hiçbirinde sınıf düzeyinin bulunmadığı, çoğunluğunda zorluk düzeyi seçeneğinin olmadığı ve çoğunda geri bildirimin olmadığı sonuçları elde edilmiştir.
