Perception of Competition in The Marine Fish Culture Industry: A Research on Turkey

Abstract
In this study, competitive perception in marine fish culture industry in Turkey investigated. Study objective is to uncover; how aquaculture enterprises, feed producers, processing enterprises, ministry employees, universities, retail businesses, research institutes and employees working for suppliers involved in the sector, perceiving the increased competition in marine fish culture industry. Survey prepared for this purpose was conducted with 344 people. Results were evaluated and interpreted both separately and in total according to business types in the sector. In the industry, the bargaining power of suppliers and buyers was perceived high and the threat of substitute products was perceived low, whereas the factors of selling price of products, quickly delivering products to the market, and financial power were determined to be important competitive factor.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de deniz balığı yetiştiriciliği sektöründe rekabet algısı araştırılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, deniz balığı yetiştiriciliği sektöründe artan rekabet dolayısıyla sektörde yer alan yetiştiriciler, yem üreticileri, işleme işletmeleri, bakanlık çalışanları, üniversiteler, perakende işletmeler, araştırma enstitüleri ve tedarikçi işletmelerde çalışanların sektörde rekabeti nasıl algıladıklarını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Bu amaçla hazırlanan anket 344 kişi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bulgular sektörde yer alan işletme tiplerine göre ayrı ayrı ve toplam olarak değerlendirilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Sektörde tedarikçilerin ve alıcıların pazarlık gücünün yüksek ve ikame ürün tehdidinin ise düşük algılandığı, ürünün satış fiyatı, finansal güç ve pazara hızlı ürün sunma faktörlerinin ise önemli rekabet unsuru olduğu belirlenmiştir.
