An İmportant Forage Crop: SORGHUM

Abstract

Animal husbandry in Turkey is based largely on meadow-pasture areas. However, these areas became inefficient due to unilateral and excessive use for many years and could not even protect the soil. Although our country has very suitable ecological conditions for the cultivation of many forage crops, the forage crops cultivation area is well below the desired level. High feeding value, ease of transportation, storage and protection, increase the cultivation areas of silage maize and sorghum. In this study, the importance of sorghum as a source of roughage will be emphasized

Özet

Türkiye'deki hayvancılık, büyük ölçüde çayır-mera alanlarına dayanmaktadır. Ancak, bu alanlar, uzun yıllar boyunca tek taraflı ve aşırı kullanım nedeniyle verimsiz hale geldi ve toprağı bile koruyamadı. Ülkemiz, birçok yem bitkisinin ekimi için çok uygun ekolojik koşullara sahip olsa da, yem bitkileri ekim alanı istenen seviyenin oldukça altındadır. Yüksek besleme değeri, taşıma, depolama ve muhafaza kolaylığı, silajlık mısır ve sorgum ekim alanlarını artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada sorgumun kaba yem kaynağı olarak önemi vurgulanacaktır
