Abstract
The purpose of this study is to show common points in the philosophies of Levinas, the contemporary thinker, and Platon, the antiquity thinker. On the one hand, we have an understanding that an ethics which based on to ontology and on the other hand another that an ethics which excludes ontology. In this article, it will be emphasized whether there is a relation between these two different approaches and whether it is possible to criticize Plato's metaphysics from the Levinas’ philosophy. When this purpose is realised, it will be asserted that although the philosophy of Levinas is founded on to criticism of the Western tradition especially Plato, his thinking is back to Plato’s thinking in terms of fundamental notions such problem of the first philosophy, to be passive of the self in the face of transcendence, ethical discourse and ethic’s goal.
