M. Heidegger’in Dasein ve Das Man Kavramlarıyla Anton Çehov’un Düello’su

Abstract

The aim of this study is to elucidate the two main characters of Anton Chekhov's novella "The Duel" in the context of the concepts of Dasein and Das Man, which constitute the foundation of German philosopher Martin Heidegger's philosophy of being. In line with this aim, the philosophy of being in the context of the era in which Heidegger lived, and within this philosophy, the concepts of Dasein and Das Man have been explained. After this explanation, Chekhov's short story "The Duel"focuses on the two contrasting characters, Layevski and Von Koren, and compares them in the context of Heidegger's concepts of Dasein and Das Man. In our interdisciplinary study, which is approached in the context of philosophy and literature, the theme of death, representing an important point in the transition from Das Man to Dasein, has been examined by placing it in the context of Chekhov's life and the artistic context experienced by the characters through the duel. Bringing together Heidegger, a 20th-century philosopher, and Chekhov, a 19th-century writer, as representatives of two different centuries in the context of existential philosophy might seem challenging. However, our study has led us to the conclusion that both figures fundamentally share an interest in the essence of existence. Indeed, both Dasein, which establishes its own horizon of existence, and Das Man, a form of Dasein that loses its authenticity, hold significant importance for Heidegger and Chekhov alike, as they both represent the possibility of human existence in its entirety. Heidegger does not approach both forms with any expression of hierarchy, such as superior or inferior, and similarly, Chekhov does not reveal his own stance on the different degrees of Das Man existence through his characters Layevski and Von Koren. The importance for the author, as in Heidegger's case, lies in simply being, just like existence itself.

Bu çalışmanın amacını; Alman düşünür Martin Heidegger’in varlık felsefesinin temelini oluşturan Dasein ve Das Man kavramları bağlamında Anton Çehov’un uzun öykülerinden biri olan Düello’nun iki temel kahramanını açıklamak oluşturmaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda öncelikle Heidegger’in içinde yaşadığı çağ bağlamında varlık felsefesi ve bu felsefe içinde Dasein ve Das Man kavramları açıklanmıştır. Bu açıklamadan sonra Çehov’un Düello adlı öyküsünün iki zıt kahramanı Layevski ve Von Koren, Heidegger’in Dasein ve Das Man olarak adlandırdığı oluş biçimleri bağlamında karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmıştır. Felsefe ve edebiyat bağlamında disiplinlerarası yöntemle ele alınan çalışmamızda, Das Man oluştan Dasein oluşua geçişte önemli bir noktayı temsil eden ölüm konusu, Çehov’un yaşamı bağlamından, kahramanlarının düelloyla deneyimledikleri sanatsal bağlama yerleştirilerek incelenmiştir. 20.yüzyıl düşünürü olan Heidegger’le 19.yüzyıl yazarı olan Çehov’u başka bir ifadeyle iki farklı yüzyılın insanı olan bu yazar ve düşünürü ortak bir payda olarak varlık felsefesinde birleştirmek çalışılmamış bir konu olması bağlamında da zor gibi görünse de çalışmamız çerçevesinde vardığımız sonuç iki ismin de özünde sadece varlıkla ilgileniyor olmasıdır. Zira benliğini kendi ufkuyla kuran Dasein da Dasein’ın oluş biçimlerinden biri olan ancak otantikliğini yitiren Das Man da hem kavramların sahibi Heidegger için hem de Çehov için bütün olarak varlığın insan olma olanağı anlamında önem arz eder. Heidegger, iki oluşa da aşağı, değerli, değersiz gibi herhangi bir varlık derecesi ifadesi ile yaklaşmadığı gibi Çehov da Das Man oluşun farklı derecelerinde duran kahramanları Layevski ve Von Koren bağlamında kendi tutumunu ele vermez. Yazar için önemli olan Heidegger’de olduğu gibi sadece oluştur.
