Abstract
Since Palestine is the place where three monotheistic religions emerged and it has holy places, it has preverved İts importance from the past to the present, but the borders of the country have changed a lot in the process until today. With the partition plan by the UN in 1947, the Palestinian territories were divided between Jews and Arabs. In 1948, Israel declared its establishment on 56% of Palestinian land. As a result of Israel's expansionist policy, it now owns about 80% of the Palestinian territories. As a result of the wars and occupations with the establishment of Israel, Palestine has narrowed spatially every year. In every attempt of the Arab world against Israel, the Palestinian territories have been narrowed a little more. In this study, it has been tried to explain the spatial shrinkage and the change in the Palestinian demographic structure, which started with the establishment of Israel in 1948 on the Palestinian lands and continued until today. On the axis of this subject, the development process and socio-demographic structure of the Palestinian population are discussed with geographical approaches. In addition, the situation of the Palestinians who had to migrate as a result of the Israeli occupation and their migration routes were also discussed on the axis of space. The aim of the study is to reveal the spatial structure of the spatial narrowing that occurred in Palestine after the establishment of Israel and the changes/transformations of the demographic components. In response to the gradually lost area in the Palestinian geography, the rapid increase in its population and the pressure of Israel have revealed the problems of domestic asylum and transnational refugees. In the study, historical research and document review (document scanning) techniques, which are among the qualitative research methods, were used. The reliable demographic data set of the study was obtained from the Palestine Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) statistics as secondary sources. The territorial loss in Palestine and the decisions against Palestine are brought up from time to time by both Israel and the USA. In this case, the unstable process creates new grievances and new migration waves.
