Multi-directional Evaluation in the Conservation and re-Function of Historical Building: A Case Study of Niğde Ulukışla Öküz Mehmet Pasha Kulliye

Abstract

The historical buildings can survive today, is provided with the new function that comes with the continuous maintenance and restoration works. The evaluation of the new function given to the historical structure has an integrated relationship and the solution of the multiple problems related to the sustainability of the structure should be dealt with according to the results of this evaluation. The architectural units that provide accommodation, trade and worship functions of the Öküz Mehmet Pasha Social Complex in the Ulukışla Niğde, have been selected as a sample since it has undergone many functional changes with the attitude of the General Directorate of Foundations and its local government towards the protection and survival of the structure. In this study, the architectural units, which function as functions of this historical complex and are re-functioned, were examined in the context of the re-functionalization, which were used in order to evaluate architectural, urban, cultural, social and economic aspects and to develop suggestions. As a result of the evaluation, the suggestions made in determining the values of re-use were in the direction of reflecting the cultural coexistence which will increase the frequency of usage and the economic and social returns associated with the city and the citizens.

Özet

Tarihi yapıların günümüzde varlıklarını sürdürebilmeleri, sürekli bakım onarım ve restorasyon çalışmaları ile birlikte verilen yeni işlev ile sağlamaktadır. Tarihi yapıya verilen yeni fonksiyonun değerlendirilmesi bütünleşik bir ilişkiye sahiptir ve yapının sürdürebilirliğine dönük çoklu problemlerin çözümü bu değerlendirmenin sonuçlarına göre ele alınmalıdır. Niğde İli Ulukışla İlçesi’nde bulunan Öküz Mehmet Paşa Külliyesi’nin geçmişte konaklama, ticaret ve ibadet fonksiyonlarını sağlayan mimari birimleri, zaman içerisinde Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü’nün ve yerel yönetimin yapıyı koruma ve yaşatma odaklı tutumuyla birçok işlev değişikliği geçirdiği için örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Bu tarihi külliyenin fonksiyonunu sürdüren ve farklı fonksiyonla işlevlendirilen mimari birimleri, kullanılan yeniden işlevlendirme odağında mimari, kentsel, kültürel, sosyal ve ekonomik yönden değerlendirme ve bunun sonucunda öneriler geliştirme amaçlı bu çalışmada irdelenmiştir. Değerlendirme sonucunda yapılan öneriler yeniden kullanım değerleri belirlemede verilen kararların ve uygulamaların yapı birimleri içerisinde ilişkili, kente ve kentliye ait kullanım sıklığını ve ekonomik ve sosyal getiriyi artıracak kültürel birlikteliği yansıtıcı fonksiyonlar yönünde olmuştur.
