CONTRIBUTION TO MADRASA LITERATURE: A CRITICAL VIEW OF BAGHDAD NIZAMIYYA

Abstract

Institutionalization and education are the primary factors of a community to form its culture and become a civilisation. The institutionalization of education has vital importance as well as many difficulties in itself because education system and its intermediary institutions provide their community’s persistence and constitute its profile. and have great impact on community’s status in the future. Nizamiyya Madrasas are first thing that come to mind when education system is discussed in islamic world. Nizamiyya Madrasas served as the example for the madrasas that would be constituted after them. In this study, Nizamiyya Madrasas have been approached within the context of Baghdat Nizamiyya Madrasas and along with critical thinking. Deficiencies in Nizamiyya Madrasas governance, its politics, construction of its education and its intellectual pattern have been handled. Main objective is before resolving educational problems, to probe the educational issues and determine the problems in the most exact way.

Müesseseleşme ve eğitim-öğretim, bir toplumun medeniyet kurmasında ve bir gelenek oluşturmasında başat aktörlerdir. Eğitimin müesseseleşmesi ise hayatî bir öneme ve zorluğa sahiptir. Zira eğitim ve bu eğitimin aracı kurumları, var oldukları toplumun devamlılığını, geleceğini, mizaç ve karakterini, şimdi ve sonrasını, gelecekte oluşacak konjonktürde, bulunduğu toplumun statüsüne kadar birçok konuyu direkt olarak etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmada, İslam dünyasında eğitim-öğretim denildiğinde ilk akla gelen, kendinden sonraki medreselere örneklik teşkil eden ve Avrupa üniversitelerine rol model olan Nizamiye Medreselerini, Bağdat Nizamiye Medresesi özelinde eleştirel bir gözle ele alarak idari, siyasi, verilen eğitimin yapısı ve düşünsel konularda eksik gördüğümüz yönlerini masaya yatırdık. Bunu yaparken amaçlanan husus, bugün dahi devam edegelen eğitim-öğretim problemlerinin temeline inerek, sorunları tedavi etmeden önce onları en doğru bir şekilde tespit edebilmektir.
