The Institution of memorizing of the whole Quran in the protecting of the Quran

Abstract
Since the beginning of the descending of the Qur’an, it was protected by the Prophet Muhammad himself and his Companions by memorizing. This article examines how the believers have showed great endeavour in the protecting of the Qur’an through memorizing of the whole Qur’an since the time of the Prophet Muhammad until our time and deals with the institution of being hafız (memorizing the whole Qur’an by heart) in this direction.

Kur’ân, nâzil olmaya başladığı andan itibaren, ilk muhatabı Hz. Peygamber ve onun gözetimindeki seçkin sahabe tarafından ezberlenerek koruma altına alınmıştır. Bu makale, Hz. Peygamber’den günümüze Kur’ân’ın muhafazası konusunda ona inananların Kur’ân’ı Kerîm’i ezberleyerek gösterdikleri gayreti ve bu doğrultuda geliştirdikleri hâfızlık müessesesini konu edinmektedir.
