An Empirical Research on Efficiency of Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program in Theology (ILITAM)

Abstract
In this study was aimed to investigate the functions, opportunities and efficiencies of distance higher religious education, in the case of Bachelor’s Degree Completion Program in Theology (ILITAM). The study uses a mix of methodologies including both the quantitative and qualitative methodology. The sampling of the study comprises 496 randomly selected students of ILITAM and 441 of the Faculty of Theology. A working group of 7 members consisting of faculty deans, program coordinators and academic members was established for the qualitative part of the study. This study shows that graduate students of ILITAM are perceived less qualified than graduate students of Theology by students and faculty members, that distance higher education is considered secondary than traditional higher religious education, and that, ILITAM is regarded necessary - without generalizing instead of formal theology education- thanks to the opportunities it provides
Özet
Bu çalışmada İlahiyat Lisans Tamamlama (İLİTAM) programı özelinde uzaktan yüksek din eğitiminin fonksiyonları, imkânı ve örgün ilahiyat eğitimine oranla verimliliğinin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Araştırma anket ve mülakat teknikleri bir arada kullanılarak karma modelle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın nicel kısmının örneklemini İLİTAM programında okuyan 496, ilahiyat fakültelerinde okuyan 441 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Nitel boyutun çalışma grubunu ise İLİTAM programında görevli 7 öğretim üyesi oluşturmuştur. Araştırma sonucunda İLİTAM mezunlarının örneklemde yer alan öğrenci ve öğretim elemanları tarafından İlahiyat mezunlarına oranla daha az yeterli görüldükleri, uzaktan yüksek din eğitiminin geleneksel eğitime göre ikincil kabul edildiği ve İLİTAM’ın sağladığı imkânlar nedeni ile - örgün eğitime alternatif oluşturacak şekilde genelleştirilmeden -varlığının devamının gerekli görüldüğü sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
