Body Measurements of Holstein-Friesian Bulls at Different Periods and Live Weight Prediction From Body Measurements

Abstract
In this study, body weight (BW) and nine different body measurements of eighteen heads Holstein-Friesian bulls were taken and different periods and by using heart girth (HG), round girth (RG), height at rump (HR) and height at withers (HW), BW prediction equations were developed with stepwise-regression method. In all three equations, the R was found to be greater than 84. The correlations between the body measurements and with BW and the repeatabilities of these traits were found to be high. Therefore, in the prediction of BW, using only HG could be adequate, however, including RG and HR into the equation, the prediction of the BW will be increased.
Özet
Bu çalışmada on sekiz baş Siyah-Alaca tosunun değişik dönemlerdeki canlı ağırlıkları (CA) ve dokuz farklı vücut ölçüleri alınmış, bu ölçülerden göğüs çevresi (GÇ), but çevresi (BÇ), sağrı yüksekliği (SY) ve cidago yüksekliği (CY) kullanılarak stepwise-regresyon yöntemi ile hayvanların CA'larını tahminde kullanılabilecek eşitlikler elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen üç regresyon eşitliğinde de R2 > 84 olarak tahmin edilmiştir. Vücut ölçülerinin biri birleri ile ve CA ile olan korelasyonları ve bu özelliklerin tekrarlanma dereceleri de yüksek bulunmuştur. GÇ'nin CA'yı tahmin etmek için tek başına kullanılmasının yeterli olacağı, BÇ ve SY'nin de kullanılması ile CA'yı tahmindeki doğruluğun artacağı sonucuna varılmıştır.
