Comparison of Quality of School Life and Sense of Belonging to School of Elementary School Students with and without Special Needs Siblings

Abstract
Our study aims to compare the quality of school life and sense of belonging to school of primary school students with and without special needs siblings. A total of 72 individuals between the ages of 8-15, with 36 siblings with special needs and 36 without, were included in our study. The School Quality of Life Scale was used to assess the quality of school life, and the School Belonging Scale was used to assess the sense of belonging to the school. The data were interpreted using the SPSS 22.0 program. A significant difference was found between the two groups with and without special needs siblings in terms of school life quality. It is thought that siblings of disabled individuals need intervention in terms of quality of school life. More scientific research on the subject is needed.
Özet
Çalışmanın amacı özel gereksinimli kardeşi olan ve olmayan ilköğretim öğrencilerinin okul yaşam kalitesi ve okula aidiyet duygusunu karşılaştırmaktır. Çalışmaya 8-15 yaş aralığında 36 özel gereksinimli kardeşi olan ve 36 olmayan toplam 72 birey dahil edildi. Okul yaşam kalitesini ölçmek için, Okul Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği, okula aidiyet duygusunu ölçmek için Okula Aidiyet Duygusu Ölçeği kullanıldı. Veriler SPSS 22.0 programı kullanılarak yorumlandı. Özel gereksinimli kardeşi olan ve olmayan iki grup arasında okul yaşam kalitesi bakımından anlamlı fark bulundu. Engelli bireylerin kardeşlerinin yaşam kalitesi ve okula aidiyet duygusu açısından müdahaleye ihtiyacı olduğu düşünülmektedir. Konuyla alakalı daha fazla sayıda bilimsel araştırmaya ihtiyaç duyulmaktadır.
