Inscriptions from the Imamzadeh Azhar’s Tomb in Razan of Hamadan

Abstract

The language, alphabet, and writing style used in inscriptions; the concepts and terms in these inscriptions; and the materials and techniques used are important elements that reveal the understanding and quality of the period’s art through its socio-cultural, economic, and political structures. The Province of Hamadan, located within the historical borders of Azerbaijan, is quite rich in terms of Turkish-Islamic architectural works. These works, however, have not been subjected to examination by scientists. Recognizing the cultural and material heritage of this geography, which has sociocultural, political, and economic associations through its Anatolian geography on account of its location throughout history will also be useful for defining the art that exists in Anatolia. This study puts the inscriptions of Imamzadeh Azhar’s Tomb, located in Razan, under the spotlight and examines the inscriptions found within the tomb by transferring general information about the buildings construction and plan features.

Özet

Kitabelerde kullanılan dil, alfabe, yazı üslubu, geçen kavram ve terimler, ele alınan malzeme ve teknikler, dönemin sosyo-kültürel, ekonomik ve siyasi yapısı ile sanat anlayışı ve kalitesini anlatan birer güzel belgelerdir. Tarihi Azerbaycan sınırları içerisinde yer alan Hemedan Eyaleti, Türk-İslam mimari eserler açısından bir hayli zengindir. Ne var ki bu eserler, bilim adamları tarafından incelemeye konu edilmemiştir. Tarih boyunca bulunduğu coğrafi konumu hasebiyle Anadolu coğrafyası ile sosyokültürel, siyasi ve ekonomik ilişkide olan bu coğrafyanın kültürel ve maddi mirasının tanınması Anadolu’da var olan sanatın tanıması için de yararlı olacaktır. Bu bağlamda çalışmamızda Rezen’de bulunan İmamzâde Azher Türbesi’nin kitabeleri mercek altına alınacak binanın inşa ve plan özellikleri hakkında genel bilgiler aktarılarak Türbede bulunan kitabeler incelenecektir.
