Abstract

Abstrac Khâlidî tradition in Bingol and its surroundings began with the arrival of Sheikh Ali Sebti, one of the caliphs of Mawlana Khâlid al-Baghdadî, to Çapakçur region. After his arrival in Çapakçur region, prominent madrasas such as Melekan, Çan and Halifan, and families engaging in scientific education activities in these madrasas in Bingöl and its surroundings adopted Khâlidî-Naqshbandî tradition over time. As madrasa education was provided along with mysticism and religious order education in Khâlidî-Naqshbandî tradition, madrasas in Bingöl also began to serve as dervish lodges at the same time. In this period starting with Sheikh Ali Sebti, Çapakçur region became almost a scientific centre while many people from other areas came to the region to learn science and benefited from this knowledge reservoir. Madrasas taught students Islamic sciences such as Fiqh, Hadith, Tafsīr, Kalam and Ferâiz on the one hand, and influenced both religious and socio-cultural life in the society on the other hand. Religious scholars trained in these madrasas enlightened the society on the principles of Islamic faith, worshipping, morals and procedures, and helped to solve many problems in the framework of religious principles, particularly in the resolution of problems arising in the field of law.
