Abstract
The article deals with the social perception towards librarianship profession, which has been recently transmitted to the technical services category by decree ofCouncil of Ministers, and the effect of this decree on public librarianship in Turkey

Bakanlar Kurulu Kararı ile teknik hizmet kabul edilen kütüphanecilik mesleğine bundan sonra duyulacak toplumsal algı ve bu kararın Türkiye’deki Halk Kütüphaneleri hizmetine olumlu yansımaları tartışılmaktadır.
