Abstract
The phenomenon of linguistic expansion has occupied the interest of linguists, grammarians, rhetoricians and linguists, they referred to it in their books and mentioned that it is one of the ways of the Arabs and their customs of speech. This research aims at the presenting to present a brief for this term (expansion) and the opinions of linguists on this phenomenon. This study also seeks to reveal this phenomenon in one of the famous Islamic thoughts and the Ḥujjat-ul-Islām, al-Imām al-Ghazālī. To show how he dealt with this phenomenon and relied on it in some places of his many works which he relied on in his interpretations. This study included talking about the limits of linguistic expansion from the point of view of Imam Al-Ghazali and what is acceptable and what is rejected in his opinion. This study also seeks to clarify the criterion of interpretation he has regarding linguistic expansion and the importance of linguistic use in revealing this phenomenon. Finally, It is presented some examples in which Imam al-Ghazālī relied on this phenomenon in interpreting some of the semantics of words and in interpreting them with meanings other than the apparent meanings, and this study showed he consistency of the opinion of al-Imām al-Ghazālī with opinions with the use of language and the traditions of the Arabs in speech.
Özet
Dilsel genişleme olgusu dilbilimcilerin ve nahiv-belağat âlimlerinin ilgilendikleri alanlardan biridir. Bu konuya kitaplarında yer vermişler ve meseleyi Arapların konuşma adeti ve geleneği olarak değerlendirmişlerdir. Bu araştırma, öncelikle dilsel genişleme terimini özet bir şekilde sunmayı ve dilbilimcilerin bu olgu hakkındaki görüşlerine işaret etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Daha sonra bu olgu İslam'ın ünlü düşünürlerinden Hüccetü’l-İslâm İmâm Gazzâlî özelinde incelenecek ve bu dil olgusunu nasıl ele aldığına ve birçok kitabında nasıl kullandığına işaret edilecektir. Ayrıca, İmâm Gazzâlî'nin bakış açısıyla dilsel genişlemenin sınırlarına, neyin kabul edilebilir olduğuna ve neyin reddedildiğine değinilecektir. Bu çalışma aynı zamanda onun dilsel genişlemeye ilişkin te'vil ölçütünü ve bu olgunun ortaya çıkarılmasında dil kullanımının önemi üzerinde durmuştur. Son olarak, İmam Gazali'nin kelimelerin bazı anlamlarını te’vil ederken ve zahiri anlamlarından başka anlamlara hamlederken bu olguya dayandığı birtakım örnekler zikredilmiş, onun dil kullanımı ve Arapların konuşma âdetleri hakkındaki görüşlerinin tutarlılığı üzerinde durulmuştur.
