The Scope of Murakkab Sentence in Arabic

Abstract

The classification of sentences in Arabic as simple and murakkab (compound) sentences is a phenomenon seen in recent grammar studies. This type of classification is not found in old works. As a result, the compound sentence in the past period was not examined as it was handled in the modern period. However, the terms of kubra-sugra related to the sentence in the past period and the classification of sentences in terms of ‘irab are related to the compound sentence. Although the existence of sentences in qubrā-sughrā forms can be considered as an introduction to the murakkab sentence, the content of the subject does not fully correspond to the murakkab sentence. However, the classification of sentences in terms of ‘irab evidneces that some types of compound sentences are in directly examined. Nonetheless, the copound sentence types were not considered in an integrated and systematic manner in the past period. The term “murakkab cumla” and its varieties have been studied, but there are some differences in opinion regarding its details. Therefore, it cannot be said that the consensus of linguists exists on the scope of murakkab cumla in the modern period. This study evaluates the past and modern approaches to murakkab cumla and examines its structure in Arabic and then compares the compound murakkab cumla in Arabic with similar structures in Turkish.

Özet

Arapçada cümlelerin basit ve birleşik cümleler olarak sınıflandırılması son dönem gramer çalışmalarında görülen bir olgudur. Bu tür bir sınıflandırma kadim eserlerde bulunmamaktadır. Dolayısıyla kadim dönemde birleşik cümle, modern dönemde ele alındığı biçimiyle incelenmemiştir. Ancak kadim dönemdeki cümle ile ilgili olan kübra-sugra terimleri ve cümlelerin irab açısından sınıflandırılması birleşik cümleyle ilişkilidir. Cümlelerin kübrâ-suğrâ olarak ele alınması, mürekkep cümleye bir giriş olarak değerlendirilebilse de konunun içeriği mürekkep cümleyi tam olarak karşılamamaktadır. Öte yandan cümlelerin irab açısından sınıflandırılması birleşik cümlenin bazı türlerinin dolaylı olarak incelendiğini göstermektedir. Bununla birlikte birleşik cümle türleri kadim dönemde bütüncül ve sistematik biçimde ele alınmamıştır. Mürekkep cümle terimi modern dönemde üretilmiş ve çeşitleri incelenmiş olmakla birlikte detaylarına ilişkin bazı görüş farklılıkları vardır. Dolayısıyla modern dönemde de birleşik cümlenin kapsamı hususunda görüş birliğine varıldığı söylenememektedir. Bu çalışma kadim dönem ve modern dönemin birleşik cümle yapısına yaklaşımlarını değerlendirerek Arapçada birleşik cümlenin kapsamını incelemekte, Arapçadaki mürekkep cümle yapılarını Türkçedeki benzer yapılarla karşılaştırmaktadır.Arap dili ve belagatı, birleşik cümle, mürekkep cümle, ana cümle, yan cümle, irap, söz dizimi.
