Abstract

In the history of Islam, Shiites and Sunnites are two groups that have been in constant struggle with each other due to a number of political and religious motives. The rivalry based on the conflict between Hashimi-Umayya before Islam. It evolved into a completely hostile-centered dimension due to some tragedy events during the post-Prophet Umayyad and Abbasid periods. While the struggle between the two sides took place in the east as the hegemony of the Sunni against the Shiites due to their possession of the political power, it took place in the west as a political and military confrontation with the Umayyad State of Andalusia in the IV / X century with the establishment of the Fatimids belonging to the Shi'ite / Ismaili sect. The Fatimids, who adopted the view of world domination in accordance with the Ismaili doctrine, saw the Andalusian Umayyads as an element that should be eliminated within this framework, and they strived for this goal until 362 (973), when they moved their state centers to Egypt from the moment they were founded. The fourth Caliph of the Fatimids, Mu‘izz-Lidînillâh, attracts attention by being the leader in this struggle against the Andalusian Umayyads. During his period, there were many military struggles between Andalusia and the two sides, mostly Maghrib-centered, during these struggles, the Fatimids both became threatening Andalusia and had the opportunity to consolidate their positions against the Andalusian Umayyads in Maghrib. The primary goal of this study, in which we will examine the most active period of the Fatimid-Andalusian Umayyad relations, which is not emphasized in our country, will be to try to take a photo of the period by addressing the rigors of bilateral political and military relations.
