Investigation of Pollination Biology and Morphology of B. terrestris L. 1758 (Insecta:Hymenoptera) Species in Boraginaceae Family

B. terrestris L. 1758 (Insecta:Hymenoptera) Türünün Boraginaceae Familyasındaki Polinasyon Biyolojisi Ve Morfolojisinin Araştırılması

Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the pollen biology and pollen morphology of Bombus terrestris (Linneaeus, 1758) (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Apidae) species of Boraginaceae family members in and around Nevşehir province between 2016 and 2018. During the field studies carried out between May and September, B. terrestris specimens were observed while visiting members of the Boraginaceae family and were collected together with these plants. Pollens obtained from collected B. terrestris samples; photographed under light and electron microscopy. As a result of the research, Boraginaceae family taxa were found in 26 of 45 B. terrestris preparations. Here, the taxa identified from the Boraginaceae family; Echium sp. and Anchusa sp. has been determined. When the general pollen characteristics of the Boraginaceae family are evaluated; Although it is seen that pollen ornamentations are mostly psilate or perforate, it is determined that pollen shapes vary at taxon level. Also in the study; It has been determined that bumblebees have a preference when using flowering plants as a source of pollen.

Bu çalışma, 2016-2018 yılları arasında Nevşehir ili ve çevresindeki Boraginaceae familyası üyelerinin, Bombus terrestris (Linneaeus, 1758) (Insecta: Hymenoptera: Apidae) türündeki polen biyoloji ve polen morfolojisinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Mayıs ve Eylül ayları arasında gerçekleştirilen saha çalışmalarında, B. terrestris örnekleri Boraginaceae familyası üyelerini ziyaret ettiği sırada gözlemlenerek, bu bitkilerle birlikte toplanmıştır. Toplanan B. terrestris örneklerinden elde edilen polenler; ışık ve elektron mikroskobunda incelenerek fotoğraflanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda incelenen 45 B. terrestris preperatının 26’sında Boraginaceae familyası taksonlarına rastlanmıştır. Burada, Boraginaceae familyasından tespit edilen taksonlar; Echium sp. ve Anchusa sp. olarak belirlenmiştir. Boraginaceae familyasının genel polen özellikleri değerlendirildiğinde; polen ornemantasyonlarının çoğunlukla psilat veya perforat olduğu görülmekle birlikte polen şekillerinin takson düzeyinde değişiklik gösterdiği belirlenmektedir. Çalışmada ayrıca; Bombus arılarının çiçekli bitkileri polen kaynağı olarak kullanırken bir tercihin söz konusu olduğu tespit edilmektedir.
