The Relationship between Happiness and Life Satisfaction in Private Sector Employees

Abstract
Aim: The aim of this research is to examine the effect of happiness on life satisfaction among private sector employees in Balıkesir city center.Methods: While the universe of the research was composed of individuals working in different business lines in the city center of Balıkesir, the sample was formed by 385 employees who voluntarily participated in the research within the same universe. The happiness perception scale developed by Demirci (2017) to measure the happiness perceptions of the employees and the life satisfaction scale developed by Diener, Emmons, Larson and Griffin (1985) and adapted into Turkish by Dağlı and Baysal (2016) were used to measure life satisfaction. After the validity and reliability analyzes of the measurement data, the structural model was tested through AMOS.Results: According to the findings, it was determined that happiness explains 51% of life satisfaction in employees. Accordingly, it can be said that happiness is a determinant of life satisfaction in employees.Conclusion: According to the results, it can be said that employees in the private sector have limited free time and cannot spare much time for exercise and cultural development. In addition, it has been understood that the level of life satisfaction of the employees is largely related to their happiness.
