Abstract

This study was carried out to determine the effects of powdered sugar application, which is an control method against honey bee mite (Varroa destructor) in summer season. Colonies were divided into two groups as experimental and control groups. Powdered sugar was applied to experimental group colonies once a week. Powdered sugar was applied of 40 g per adult bee frame in experimental group colonies. Powdered sugar shake method was used to determine varroa infestation. Workers in experiment groups colonies were dusted with powdered sugar once a week and no application for the control group. Bu çalışma, bal arısı zararlılarının en önemlisi olan Varroa destructor ile mücadelede, pudra şekeri uygulamasının hem kuluçka faaliyetleri hem de bal akımının yoğun olduğu yaz sezonunda etkinliğini belirlemek için yürütülmüştür. Koloniler deneme ve kontrol grubu olmak üzere iki gruba ayrılmıştır. Deneme grubu kolonilerine haftada bir kez, ergin arılı çerçeve başına 40 gr pudra şekeri uygulanmış ve kontrol grubuna hiçbir uygulama yapılmamıştır. Çalışmada seçilen koloniler ergin arı ve kuluçka miktarı bakımından kısmen dengelenmiştir. Çalışma öncesi gruplar arası varroa bulaşıklığı bakımından istatistiksel fark bulunmamaktadır (P>0.05).
