Abstract
Firdevsî-i Rûmî, in his work Süleym â n-n â me, whenever he finds the opportunity, introduces some passages written in verses some shorter, others longer, for the subject to be better understood by the reader. Sometimes various short stories and anecdotes related to the subject are also introduced into the text. The text that we deal with in this article, was added in the book for this didactic purpose. The fragment in question is included in the 45th volume. At the same time, in the book there is a chapter in which all the story is interpreted by the writer himself. The author, after describing the quarrel between sugar and salt in the chapter entitled “mübahase”, and the argument between sugar, honey and pekmez grape molasses/ thick syrup of grape juice in the chapter “m ünazara”, includes hims elf in the text in the last chapter and he explains thoroughly what the reader should understand from these symbols.
