EXAMINATION OF SMART TOURISM APPLICATIONS OF IZMIR WITHIN THE SCOPE OF SMART TOURISM: THE EXAMPLE of 'visitizmir'

Abstract
Cities that implement smart tourism practices not only provide competitive advantage, but also increase the travel experience of tourists. The aim of this study is to examine “visitizmir” in the context of smart tourism application of Izmir, which is a tourism destination. For this purpose, the conceptual framework of smart tourism, which is evaluated within the scope of the elements of smart cities, which is the subject of the research, was first examined in the study. Afterwards, a case study was carried out in order to obtain data on smart tourism. As a result of the study, it has been concluded that İzmir has just started its applications in order to become a smart tourism destination.
Özet
Akıllı turizm uygulamalarını hayata geçiren şehirler rekabet üstünlüğü sağlamakla birlikte turistlerin seyahat deneyimlerini de artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı turizm destinasyonu olan İzmir destinasyonun akıllı turizm uygulaması bağlamında “visitizmir”i incelemektir. Bu amaçla çalışmada ilk önce araştırmaya konu olan akıllı şehirlerin unsurları kapsamında değerlendirilen akıllı turizm ile ilgili kavramsal çerçeve incelenmiştir. Sonrasında akıllı turizme ilişkin verileri elde edebilmek için durum çalışması (örnek olay) gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışma sonucunda İzmir’in akıllı turizm destinasyonu olmak adına uygulamalarına yeni başladığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
