Data of the students in Eskısehır Osmangazı University Faculty Of Medıcıne in years between 2016-2017 and 2017-2018

Abstract
It has always been an important process for students to decide which university and department to study. Unconscious choices were commonly seen in the past. But as time goes by, more conscious choices are seen and this can be related to the development in technology. The contribution of faster internet, phones and social network is obvious. The most important criterion of this process is the exam score. The other criterions are; prestige of the university, financial support, accommodation, academic staff, campus life and social facilities, city life, location of the university, educational expectations, academic prestige, ease at finding a job, friends, news about the university and the distance to hometown. In our study we analyzed the students who gained right to study medicine at medical faculty in years between 2016 and 2018 with the information from www.yokatlas.gov.tr. The subjects of our analysis were; gender, geographical distribution, preference order, exam score, percentile, characteristics of the high school that the students graduated from, quotas, success and school characteristics of students who are out of quota, hometowns of the students, highest and the lowest points of the schools, educational status (is it their first or second year they succeeded), the characteristics of the student with lowest score, total number of enrolled students, distribution of classes, number of foreign students who chose the faculty and the countries they come from, number of the students from exchange programmes, total number of students who chose the faculty and their ranking, their preference ranking, their preference leanings and the programmes they chose.
Özet
Öğrencilerin üniversite ve bölüm tercihleri her zaman önemli olmuştur. Eskiden bu konuda bilinçsiz tercihlerin yapıldığı görülmekte idi. Ancak zaman içinde özellikle teknolojinin de katkısı ile daha bilinçli tercihlerin yapıldığı görülmektedir. Gerek internet, gerekse telefonların ve sosyal iletişim ağlarının hızlanması da bu noktada çok önemli katkı vermiştir. Üniversite ve fakülte seçimlerinde; üniversitenin saygınlığı, finansal yardım, konaklama durumu, kurumun akademik çevre özellikleri, kampüs yaşamının sosyal çevresi, üniversitenin konumu, şehir hayatı, eğitimsel beklentiler, akademik saygınlık, iş bulma olasılığı/imkânı, üniversite personeli, akran/arkadaşlar, kampüs içi konaklama, üniversite ile ilgili çıkan haberler ile ailenin yaşadığı yere mesafesi gibi sebepler üniversite seçiminde önemli bir etkiye sahiptir. Tercihlerde üniversite sınavında aldığı puanda hem üniversite hem de fakülte tercihinde belki de en önemli kriter olmayı sürdürmektedir. Çalışmamızda ise 2016-2017 ile 2017-2018 Tıp Fakültesini kazanan öğrencilerin cinsiyet, coğrafi bölge, tercih sıralaması, kaç puanlarla kazandığı, yüzdelik dilimi, okul özellikleri, (Devlet veya özel, Fen, Anadolu, meslek liseleri gibi), okul kontenjanları ve bu kontenjan dışında alınan öğrencilerin okul ve başarı özellikleri, geldikleri iller, Tavan ve taban puanları, öğrenim durumları (Hemen mi kazanmış yoksa mezuna mı kalmış, başka bir alandan mı gelmiş vb), son yerleşen öğrencinin özellikleri, gibi öğrencilere ait bilgiler ile kayıtlı toplam öğrenci sayısı ve sınıf dağılımları, tercih eden yabancı uyruklu öğrenciler ile geldikleri ülkeler, değişim programları ile gelen ve giden öğrenci sayısı, ülke genelinde tercih eden aday sayısı ve sırası, kaçıncı tercihlerine yerleştikleri, tercih eğilimleri, yerleşenler hangi programları tercih etti gibi dağılımlar incelenmiş, bu bilgiler ise www.yokatlas.gov.tr adresinden alınarak yapılmıştır.
