Abstract

Brothers Karamazov is the masterpiece work of Russian novelist Mihaylovich Dostoyevsky that was written towards the end of his life is. The novel is about a family's drama in which personal, social and religious interrogations have been taken as a topic through a father and his sons. In this composition, Dostoevsky, who tried to examine the depths of the human spirit through his psychological analysis, has questioned the belief in Christianity in detail. On the other hand Ordet is a movie that produced in 1955 by Danish filmmaker Carl Theodor Dreyer. Same as Brothers Karamazov, this work take subject of a father and his sons' about questioning of Christianity by a farmer's family. One of which is literary and the other visual, these two different branches of art have similarity in many ways. The both work are subject of conflict and reconciliation between Christianity and the mind. Here, Christianity is scrutinised in depth through the heroes of these work. Christianity is a system of belief shaped around Jesus. His teachings have been engraved in art and science throughout history. Literature, which is as old as the history of humanity and a new branch of art, is two important areas where Christianity is discussed. Writers or directors who feel the effects of Christianity in their personal lives do not hesitate to process this belief system in their work. In this study, through disciplinary perspective of history of religions and in a context of cinema and literature arts, how the Christianity was handled in novel Brothers Karamazov and movie work Ordet. This essay, which is an interdisciplinary study essay, takes into consideration the approach of the history of religions. While the texts and characters were being analyzing, the phenomenological and comparative approach of the history of religions has been used.

Özet

Karamazov Kardeşler, Rus edebiyatçı Fyodor Mihayloviç Dostoyevski’nin hayatının sonlarına doğru yazdığı ustalık eseridir. Bir ailenin dramını konu alan roman, bir baba ve oğulları üzerinden kişisel, toplumsal ve dinsel sorgulamaları ele almaktadır. Bu yapıtında psikolojik çözümlemeleriyle insan ruhunun derinliklerini irdelemeye çalışan Dostoyevski, Hıristiyanlık inancını ayrıntılı biçimde sorgulamıştır. Söz (Ordet) ise Danimarkalı sinemacı Carl Theodor Dreyer’e ait 1955 yapımlı bir sinema filmidir. Bu yapıt tıpkı Karamazov kardeşlerde olduğu gibi bir baba ve oğulları üzerinden bir çiftçi ailesinin Hıristiyanlığı sorgulayışını konu edinmiştir. Biri yazınsal diğeri görsel iki farklı sanat alanına ait metinler, birçok yönden benzerdir. Her iki yapıt Hıristiyanlık inancı ile akıl arasındaki çatışma ve uzlaşmayı konu edinmektedir. Hıristiyanlık bu yapıtların kahramanları üzerinden derinlemesine işlenmektedir. Hıristiyanlık, İsa etrafına şekillenen bir inanç sistemidir. Onun öğretileri tarih boyunca sanatta ve bilimde işlenmiştir. İnsanlık tarihi kadar eski olan edebiyat ve yeni bir sanat dalı olan sinema Hıristiyanlığın tartışıldığı iki önemli alandır. Kişisel hayatlarında Hıristiyanlığın etkilerini hissseden yazarlar veya yönetmenler, bu inanç sistemini yapıtlarında işlemekten kaçınmamışlardır. Bu çerçevede çalışmada dinler tarihi bilimi perspektifinde sinema ve edebiyat sanatları bağlamında Karamazov Kardeşler romanı ve Söz sinema filmi yapıtlarında Hıristiyanlığın nasıl işlendiği ortaya konulmuştur. Disiplinler arası bir çalışma denemesi olan bu makale, dinler tarihinin yaklaşımını dikkate alarak konuyu ele almaktadır. Metinler ve karakterler çözümlenirken, dinler tarihinin fenomenolojik ve mukayeseli yaklaşımından faydalanılmıştır.
