Abstract
Syphilis, caused by Treponema pallidum, is the oldest known sexually transmitted disease and it is known as the “great imitator” .In this case, a patient who was followed up with the misdiagnosis of alopecia areata and was found to have syphilis due to oral mucosal plaque and genital ulcer is presented. Thus, I want to emphasize the importance of always keeping syphilis in mind as a differential diagnosis in daily practice.
