The Analysis of Exchange Rate, Income and Defence Expenditures Relationship In Turkey wıth ARDL Approach

Abstract
In this study the effects of income and the exchange rate on defense expenditure has been examined by the ARDLbounds testing approach wiht 2006: I and 2019: 3 three-month data for Turkey. for Turkey. As a result of theexamination, it is seen that the income variable positively affects defense expenditures and this parameter isstatistically significant. Defense spending also increases when income levels increase, and / or defense spendingdecreases when income level decreases. The coefficient showing the effect of the exchange rate variable ondefense expenditures was found negative, but this coefficient is not statistically significant. Therefore, there is norelationship between the exchange rate and defense spending
Özet
Bu çalışmada Türkiye için 2006:I ile 2019:III arası 3 aylık veriler ile gelir ve döviz kurunun savunma harcamalarına olan etkileri ARDL sınır testi yaklaşımı ile incelenmiştir. Yapılan inceleme sonucunda gelir değişkenin savunma harcamalarını pozitif olarak etkilediği ve bu parametrenin istatistiki açıdan anlamlı olduğu görülmektedir. Gelir düzeyi artınca savunma harcamaları da artar ve/veya gelir düzeyi azalınca savunma harcamaları da azalır. Döviz kuru değişkenin savunma harcamaları üzerindeki etkisini gösteren katsayı negatif bulunmuştur, ancak bu katsayının istatistiksel olarak anlamlı olmadığı görülmektedir. Dolayısıyla da döviz kuru ile savunma harcamaları arasında bir ilişki yoktur.
