The Effect of Science and Art-Based Education on High School Students’ Attitudes to Science and Art

Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to examine the difference and relationship of high school students’ attitudes towards Science and Art according to the types of schools they studied. The study group of the research is consisted of students studying at Science and Art Centres, Fine Arts High Schools and Science High Schools in Antalya in the 2019-2020 academic years. In the research, a case study was conducted and the correlational survey model used by purposeful sampling. The data obtained from the “Attitude Scale towards Art” and “Attitude Scale towards Science”, which are used as data collection tools, were analysed with the SPSS program and the results were interpreted. As a result of the research, it was seen that the data obtained from the Attitude Scale towards Science did not show a statistically significant difference according to the type of school, but the Science and Art Centre students showed more positive attitudes towards Science according to the average of their Attitude Points towards Science. According to the data obtained from the “Attitude towards Art Scale”, a statistically significant difference was found between the scores of the Science and Art Centre and Science High School Students of Fine Arts High School. As a result of the correlation analysis between Attitudes towards Science and Attitudes towards Art, a statistically positive significant relationship was found for Science High Schools and Science and Art Centre students.

Bu araştırmada ‘Bilim ve Sanat Ağırlıklı’ eğitim veren ortaöğretim kurumlarında öğrenim gören lise öğrencilerinin bilime ve sanata yönelik tutumlarının, devam ettikleri okul türlerine göre farklılık ve ilişkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2019- 2020 öğretim yılında Antalya’da bulunan Bilim ve Sanat Merkezleri, Güzel Sanatlar Liseleri ve Fen Liselerinde öğrenim gören öğrenciler oluşturmuştur. Araştırmada ‘İlişkisel tarama modeli’ kullanılarak, amaçlı örneklem seçimi ile örnek olay taraması yapılmıştır. Veri toplama araçları olarak kullanılan “Sanata Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” ve “Bilime Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” elde edilen veriler, SPSS programı ile analiz edilerek sonuçları yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, ‘Bilime Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği’nden elde edilen verilerin, devam edilen okul türüne göre istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir farklılık göstermediği fakat ‘Bilime Yönelik Tutum Puanları’ ortalamalarına göre Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi öğrencilerinin Bilime yönelik daha olumlu tutumlar gösterdiği görülmüştür. “Sanata Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” nden bulgularına göre, Güzel sanatlar lisesi öğrencilerinin Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi ve Fen Lisesi öğrencileri puanlarından istatistiksel olarak anlamlı farklılık olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. ‘Bilim’e Yönelik Tutumlar ’ ile ‘Sanat’a Yönelik Tutumlar ’ arasında yapılan Korelasyon analizi sonucunda, Fen liseleri ve Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi öğrencileri için istatistiksel açıdan pozitif yönde anlamlı bir ilişki saptanmıştır .
