Determining the Knowledge Levels of Patients With Acute Myocardial Infarction About Their Own Diseases

Akut Miyokard İnfarktüsü Geçiren Hastaların Miyokard İnfarktüsü Hakkındaki Bilgi Düzeylerinin İncelenmesi

Abstract

Objectives: This study was designed as a definitive study to investigate the patient’s level of knowledge about acute myocardial infarction (AMI), socio- demographical characteristics and other factors that may be involved in the development of AMI in patients hospitalized with a diagnosis of AMI. Materials and Methods: The patient identification form and the questionnaire containing the ques- tions for the evaluation of the knowledge about the disease, and by face-to-face interviews with 90 patients. Statistical analysis used for the evaluation of the dataset were: Analysis of variance (ANOVA), Kruskall-Wallis and Tukey HSD tests. Results: At the end of the study, the mean score of the patients’ general knowledge about AMI was 14.57±3.15. Conclusion: This score was found to be associ- ated with age, education, profession, levels of blood pressure, blood cholesterol and co-existing diseases

Özet

Amaç: Bu çalışma akut miyokard infarktüsü(AMİ) tanısı ile yatan hastaların, AMİ hakkındakibilgi düzeylerinin, sosyodemografik özelliklerinin,AMİ oluşumuna neden olabilecek bazı etmenlerinincelenmesi amacıyla tanımlayıcı olarak planlandı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma kapsamına alınan 90hastaya, hasta tanıtım formu ve hastalığa ilişkinbilgi değerlendirme sorularını içeren anket formu,yüz yüze görüşme yöntemi ile uygulandı. Verilerinistatistiksel açıdan değerlendirilmesinde varyansanalizi (ANOVA), Kruskall-Wallis, Tukey HSDanalizleri kullanıldı.Bulgular: Çalışma sonunda hastaların AMİ hakkındaki genel bilgi puanı ortalamaları 14.57±3.15olarak saptandı.Sonuç: Hastaların bilgi düzeylerinin; yaş, eğitim,meslek, tansiyon ve kolesterol değerlerinden vebaşka hastalık olup olmama durumundan etkilendiği görüldü
