MU’TEZILA’S ASLAH THEORY AND THE ANALYSIS OF BASRA MU’TAZILA’S OPINION ABOUT ASLAH

MU’TEZİLE’NİN ASLAH TEORİSİ VE BASRA MU’TEZİLE’SİNİN ASLAH ANLAYIŞININ TAHLİLİ

Abstract

Aslah theory has a central importance in understanding theMu’tazila thought. The Mu’tazila tried to give a rational explanationfor the relationship among Allah and nature and man. The Aslahtheory has laid the groundwork for many debates affecting Islamicthought so far. Those who argue and criticize the Aslah theoryare not only the ones opposed to the Mu’tazila like Ahl al-Sunnah.The very ones with Matazila thought have also participated inthe discussion and questioned the theory. In this study, after theaslah theory is explained in detail, the course of the discussion inMu’tazila will be analyzed. Finally, in the study, based on the effortsof Basra Mu’tazila to ground the aslah, the possibility of developingan idea of grace based on the circumstances will be questioned.In this context, the main argument of the study is that instead of the idea of an aslah that obliges Allah, the idea of grace which isbased on the Qur’an and concretized as conditions can form a moreappropriate framework.

Özet

Aslah teorisi, Mu’tezile düşüncesinin anlaşılmasında merkezi biröneme sahiptir. Mu’tezile, bu teoriyle Allah, tabiat ve insan arasındakiilişkiye rasyonel bir açıklama getirmeye çalışmıştır. Aslah teorisi,İslam düşüncesinde etkisi şimdiye kadar devam eden pek çoktartışmaya zemin hazırlamıştır. Aslah teorisini tartışanlar sadeceEhl-i sünnet gibi Mu’tezile’ye muhalif akımlar olmamıştır. BizatihiMu’tezile içinde de tartışmaya katılan ve teoriyi sorgulayanlar olmuştur.Bu çalışmada, aslah teorisi ana hatlarıyla izah edildiktensonra tartışmanın Mu’tezile içindeki seyrine bakılacaktır. Çalışmadason olarak Basra Mu’tezilesinin aslahı temellendirmek içingiriştiği çabadan hareketle, “koşullar”a dayalı bir lütuf düşüncesigeliştirebilmenin imkânı sorgulanacaktır. Bu bağlamda çalışmanıntemel savı, Allah’a zorunluluk yükleyen bir aslah düşüncesi yerine,temeli Kur’an’da bulunan ve bizim “koşullar” olarak somutlaştırdığımızlütuf düşüncesinin daha uygun bir çerçeve oluşturabileceğiyönündedir.
