THE PAST THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN 21ST CENTURY TURKEY

Abstract

We are experiencing a period of globalization increasing psychological, sociological and even physical borders. Societies are hosting different people, different things. These differences diverge and increase individual and societal demands. People want to express these needs not only in certain periods but also in a continuous manner. In this context, the best answer to this quest is CIVIL SOCIETY. It is a long and complicated historical process that the needs of the civilian field can be found in the regulations of the state. Civil society or non-governmental organizations have begun to gain more importance in the world. What is the situation in Turkey that the Civil Society, which has provided great contributions to the development of democracy in the past and today? In Turkey, civil society organizations have not been the level of activity in developed societies.

Özet

Küreselleşmenin gittikçe arttığı psikolojik, sosyolojik ve hatta fiziksel sınırların kalktığı bir dönemi yaşıyoruz. Toplumlar, farklı insanları yani farklılıkları barındırıyorlar. Bu farklılıklar, bireysel ve toplumsal talepleri çeşitlendiriyor ve arttırıyor. İnsanlar bu ihtiyaçlarını sadece belirli dönemlerde değil sürekli aktif olarak dile getirmek istiyorlar. Bu bağlamda bu arayışa en iyi cevap: SİVİL TOPLUM’dur. Sivil alanda belirlenen ihtiyaçların devletin düzenlemelerinde kendini bulabilmesi uzun ve karmaşık bir tarihsel sürecin ürünüdür. Dünaya da sivil toplum ya da hükümet dışı organizasyonlar daha fazla önem kazanmaya başlamıştır. Geçmişte ve bugün demokrasinin gelişimine büyük katkılar sunan Sivil Toplum’un Türkiye’deki durumu nedir? Türkiye’de sivil toplum kuruluşları gelişmiş toplumlardaki etkinlik düzeyine sahip değildir.
