Environmental Sensitivity, Approaches and Solutions in Winter Tourism Destinations: Sample of Palandöken Hotels

Abstract
It is estimated that global warming will cause the number of snowy days in winter tourism centers to decrease and the winter tourism to lose power. This case leads the hotels located in winter tourism centers to take more precautions. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore the views of the managers of the hotels which serve for winter tourism about environmental changes, their environmentalist approaches and whether they regard the certificate of environment as a marketing strategy. For this purpose, qualitative data were collected from the managers of the hotels on Palandöken through semi-structured interviews. It was tried to understand whether the Palandöken destination is affected by the environmental changes and the levels of the environmental protection measures taken by the managers in the hotels they work for. The results of the study showed that the hotels managers think hotels cause environmental changes; they guess that beach hotels and hotels in city centers will be much more affected than winter tourism hotels; they agree that Palandöken will also be influenced by this environmentally negative changes; and they take different measures about this problem.
Özet
Küresel ısınmanın kış turizmi merkezlerinde karlı gün sayısının azalmasına ve kış turizminin güç kaybetmesine neden olacağı beklenmektedir. Bu durum kış turizmi merkezlerinde yerleşik otelleri daha fazla oranda tedbir almaya itmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, kış turizmine odaklı hizmet sunan otellerin yöneticilerinin çevresel değişimlere bakış açılarını, çevreci yaklaşımlarını, çevre sertifikasını pazarlama stratejisi olarak görüp görmediklerini tespit etmektir. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Palandöken’de yerleşik otel yöneticileri ile yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yapılarak nitel veri elde edilmiştir. Konu kapsamında Palandöken destinasyonunun çevresel değişimlerden etkilenip etkilenmediği ve otel yöneticilerinin çalıştıkları otelde çevre koruma ile ilgili yapılan faaliyetlerin düzeyi de anlaşılmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuçları, yöneticilerin, otellerin çevresel değişimlere neden olduğunu düşündüklerini, çevresel bozulmadan kış otellerine göre kıyı ve şehir otellerinin daha fazla etkileneceğini tahmin ettiklerini, Palandöken’in de çevresel kötüye gidişi hissedeceği konusunda hem fikir olduklarını bu hususta değişik tedbirler aldıklarını göstermiştir.
