Comparison Of The Concepts Contained In The 7th Grade Textbooks Prepared In Accordance With The Social Studies Curricula Of 1998 And 2004

Abstract
This study compares the ways concepts are introduced in the 7th grade textbooks prepared in accordance with thecurricula of 1998 and 2004. As well as laying down the ways concepts are introduced and taught in the textbooks,the study sets forth how such concepts are consolidated with supportive elements and the way they are includedin the assessment and evaluation studies as well as in the dictionaries. When compared with the textbooksprepared in accordance with the curriculum of 1998, the set of textbooks prepared in accordance with the SocialSciences Curriculum of 2004 spares more space for concepts, the way they should be got across to the students,supportive elements related with the concepts, assessment and evaluation studies and their dictionary meanings.Sufficient explanation about the way and the level concepts are conveyed should be given in the curriculum of2004, and the set of textbooks to be prepared in this way should introduce a teaching process which complieswith the concept teaching principles.

Bu araştırmada 1998 ve 2004 sosyal bilgiler öğretim programlarına göre hazırlanan 7. sınıf ders kitaplarındakikavramların program doğrultusunda veriliş biçimleri karşılaştırılmıştır. Ders kitaplarındaki kavramların verilişbiçimi ve işlenişi, öğretime yardımcı unsurlarla ilişkilendirilmesi, ölçme değerlendirme çalışmalarında vesözlükte yer verilişi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. 2004 Sosyal Bilgiler Öğretim Programı’na göre hazırlanankitap setlerinde 1998 yılına göre daha fazla kavrama ve işlenişine, kavramla ilgili öğretime yardımcı unsura,ölçme değerlendirme çalışmasına ve sözlük anlamına yer verilmiştir. 2004 öğretim programında kavramlarınveriliş biçimi ve düzeyine ilişkin yeterli açıklamalar ve bu doğrultuda hazırlanacak ders kitap setlerinde kavramöğretimi ilkelerine uygun işleniş yapılmalıdır.
