A Research on the Translations of Talat Sait Halman’s Yunus Emre Poems

Abstract
In this research, it is examined how much the translation work called us Yunus Emre Selected Poems made by Talât Sait Halman reflects Yunus's understanding in the target language and the translation strategies applied in the work. The main purpose of the reserach is to find the answer to the question of Yunus Emre's idea and understanding in the translation of Talât Sait Halman. In addition, it is aimed to reconsider Yunus, which expresses the most needed human understandings centuries ago in today's world with his poems, to examine the extent to which the tasawwuf understanding translated into the target language is expressed and to create a unique tasawwuf terminology.
Özet
Bu çalışmada Talât Sait Halman tarafından yapılan “Yunus Emre Selected Poems” adlı çeviri eserin hedef dilde Yunus’un anlayışını ne kadar yansıttığı ve eserde uygulanan çeviri stratejilerinin neler olduğu incelenmiştir. Çalışmanın asıl amacı ise Talât Sait Halman’ın çevirisinde Yunus Emre’nin fikri ve anlayışı, hedef dilde karşılığını bulabildi mi sorusunun cevabını bulmaktır. Ayrıca günümüz dünyasında en çok ihtiyaç duyulan insani anlayışları yüzyıllar önce ifade eden Yunus’u şiirleri ile tekrar ele almak, hedef dile çevrilen tasavvufi anlayışın ne ölçüde dile getirildiğini incelemek ve özgün bir tasavvuf terminolojisi oluşturmak amaçlanmıştır.
