LINGUISTIC RESEARCH ON SURNAMES USED IN AGRI PROVINCE

Abstract
First and last name of the person have an important role both in providing an identity and in maintaining any kind of social relationship with the other members of the community. In interpersonal relations as well as in relations between the state and people, name and surname usage did not cause any trouble during the periods of low population. This situation continued until the early years of the republic. In such an environment, which is one of the factors that make life easier for today's society, the surname law and development has heralded a significant change for the life of the community. The purpose of this study is to determine the reflections of surname preferences in Agri and to determine the relationship between the surname preferences and the individual, family and social life in the last quarter century. In addition, it is aimed to determine the quality of naming, social values and motives in preferences of surname in the face of the limitations imposed Surname Law. This study is a qualitative research and data were collected through document analysis and review of the literature. The study group of research taken into consideration 641 surnames derived from total 6 school including two primaries, two middle schools and two high schools to in Ağrı the city center. Frequency conditions of surnames are identified in these records. During this research, written sources on the topic were examined. It has been concluded that the application of last name has lots of positive benefits for the community life. The research concludes that the application of the surname is necessary for the life of the community. It is also concluded that Surname Law provides convenience in conducting state affairs, from past to present, remarkable positive reflections occurs. Many new words were derived after the implementation of Surname Law and Turkish was enriched with suffixes brought to the end of the word. In addition, with this law, some titles such as ‘ağa, paşa’ has been removed.
Özet
Ad ve soyadı kişiye bir taraftan bir kimlik sağlarken öte yandan içinde bulunduğu toplumun diğer üyeleri ile her çeşit sosyal ilişkiyi sürdürmede önemli bir işleve sahiptir. Gerek kişiler arası ilişkilerde gerekse kişiler ile devlet arasındaki ilişkilerde önemli bir role sahip ad ve lakap/soyadı kullanımı, nüfusun az olduğu dönemlerde herhangi bir sıkıntıya yol açmamıştır. Bu durum, ancak Cumhuriyetin ilk yıllarına kadar devam edebilmiştir. Böyle bir ortamda günümüz toplum yaşamını kolaylaştıran faktörlerden biri olan Soyadı Kanunu toplum hayatı için önemli bir değişim ve gelişimin habercisi olmuştur. Bu araştırmanın amacı, Ağrı’da soyadı tercihlerinin yansımalarını; son çeyrek asırda soyadı tercihleri ile kişi, aile ve sosyal yaşantı arasındaki ilişkiyi belirlemektir. Ek olarak Soyadı Kanununun koyduğu sınırlamalar karşısında adlandırmaların nitelikleri, soyadı tercihlerindeki sosyal değer ve motifleri tespit etmektir. Yapılan bu çalışma, nitel bir araştırma olup veriler doküman incelemesi ve literatür taraması yoluyla toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Ağrı il merkezindeki 2’si İlkokul, 2’si Ortaokul 2’si Lise olmak üzere toplam 6 okuldan elde edilen 641 soyadı ile Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık Genel Müdürlüğünden sağlanan ağrı iline ait nüfus kayıtları esas alınmıştır. Bu kayıtlardaki soyadlarının sıklık durumları belirlenmiştir. Bu araştırma sırasında, konuyla ilgili yazılı kaynaklar taranmıştır. Yapılan araştırma sonucunda soyadı uygulamasının toplum hayatı için önemli olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Soyadı Kanunun devlet işlerini yürütmede kolaylıklar sağladığı, soyadı uygulamasının toplum hayatına olumlu yararlar sağladığı; geçmişten günümüze gelindikçe dikkat çekici olumlu yansımaların ortaya çıktığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Soyadı kanunundan sonra birçok yeni kelimeler türetilmiş, kelime sonlarına getirilen eklerle Türkçe zenginleştirilmiştir. Ayrıca bu kanunla "ağa, paşa" gibi unvanlar da kaldırılmıştır.
