Effect of Changing in Euro-Turkish Lira Parity on Turkey's Import And Export with the Euro Currency

Abstract
The total amount of imports and exports made in a country constitutes the foreign trade of that country. Foreign trade is one of the most dependent activities of today's open economies. This dependency has increased since the 1950s with the effect of globalization and has brought various regulations. The establishment of the world trade organization, as well as the customs union agreements are the most important elements supporting the import and export. Countries conduct international trade activities by trading goods and services with other countries. International trade between countries is influenced by many factors. These include economic, political and social factors. Exchange rate increases and decreases among economic factors are a very important factor affecting the country's trade. In this study, the changes in exchange rates and the reasons for the effects of imports and exports between countries were investigated. Moreover, Turkey's largest foreign commercial activity outside his trade with the EU found that the eurozone has been compared to total foreign trade. Besides, Türkish Liras/Euro exchange rate movements during the period 2005-2018 in Turkey's foreign trade made with the Euro were tested to see how affected. According to results there is a significant effect on both Turkey's exports and imports with Euro currency.
Özet
Bir ülkede yapılan ithalat ve ihracat toplamı o ülkenin dış ticaretini oluşturmaktadır. Dış ticaret günümüz açık ekonomilerinin en bağımlı olduğu faaliyetlerden bir tanesidir. Bu bağımlılık küreselleşmenin verdiği etkiyle 1950’lerden sonra git gide artmış ve çeşitli düzenlemeleri de beraberinde getirmiştir. Gerek Dünya Ticaret Örgütünün kurulması, gerek Gümrük Birliği anlaşmaları ithalat ve ihracatı destekleyen en önemli oluşumlardandır. Ülkeler başka ülkelerle mal ve hizmet ticareti yaparak uluslararası ticari faaliyetleri gerçekleştirirler. Ülkeler arasında yapılan uluslararası ticaret birçok etmenlerden etkilene bilmektedir. Bunlar arasında ekonomik, siyasal ve sosyal etmenler bulunabilmektedir. Ekonomik etmenler arasında bulunan döviz kuru artış ve azalışları ülke ticaretlerini etkileyen önemli bir etmendir. Bu çalışmada ülkeler arasında ithalat ve ihracat miktarlarına etki ettiğini düşünülen kur değişimleri ve nedenleri incelenmiştir. Ayrıca Türkiye’nin en fazla dış ticaret faaliyetinde bulunduğunu AB Avro bölgesiyle yaptığı dış ticaret, toplam dış ticaretle kıyaslanmıştır. Bunun yanında TL/Avro paritesindeki değişimin 2005-2018 döneminde Türkiye’nin Avro para birimiyle yaptığı dış ticareti nasıl etkilediği test edilmiştir. Analiz sonuçlara göre AVRO/TL paritesindeki değişimin Türkiye’nin Avro para birimiyle yaptığı ihracatına ve ithalatına anlamlı bir etkisinin olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
